Professor Timon Rabczuk - Highly Cited Researchers 2017

Highly Cited Researchers from Clarivate is an annual list recognizing leading researchers in the sciences and social sciences from around the world. The 2017 list focuses on contemporary research achievement: only Highly Cited Papers in science and social sciences journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection during the 11-year period 2007-2017 were surveyed. Highly Cited Papers are defined as those papers ranked in the top 1% by citations, considering both year and field of publication in the Web of Science. These data were derived from Essential Science Indicators℠ (ESI).

Those researchers who, within an ESI-defined field, published Highly Cited Papers were judged to be influential. Professor Timon Rabczuk, Head of Division of Computational Mechanics of Ton Duc Thang University (DCM), was listed in the Highly Cited Researchers 2017 in 02 nominated categories: Computer Science and Engineering.

Professor Timon Rabczuk has shared with us his comments toward to the Highly Cited Researchers from Clarivate as "First of all, I definitely feel honoured to be listed in the Highly Cited Researchers database for 4 consecutive years, especially the first year when the 'rules' were just announced and not known to any researcher. It is a good motivation to keep focusing on research. Secondly, I have to say this is not only my achievement as many of the highly cited papers came from my research group (PhD students and postdocs) and international — this includes also Vietnam — collaborators, which I gratefully acknowledge."

"I am also happy being listed in two categories and I am especially proud of being listed in two categories in the first year (2014) since at that point nobody knew how the ranking will work. On the other hand, I have to admit being highly cited in two categories is lucky and due to the way certain journals are ranked. I would not consider myself as computer scientists. I do research in computational science or more precisely computational mechanics which I would categorize rather in Engineering. However, a few journals I publish in, which I would rather classify as Engineering, are categorized as Computer Science in the InCites database." Professor Timon Rabczuk also added.

Department for Management of Science and Technology Development of Ton Duc Thang University (DEMASTED) would like to congratulate Professor Timon Rabczuk on this achievement.
